HUMANE SOCIETY OF HOUSTON COUNTY

(Please be a responsible pet owner and spay and neuter your pets)

Houston County finally has an organization that is desperately trying to get our unbelievable high number of homeless animals under control. The HSOHC was established in September of 2008. It is composed of members who share a great love of animals. With the homeless population being as astronomical as it is, these people have their job cut out for them. I know many of them personally. They spend long hours, and many times, their own money trying to rescue as many of these lost creatures as possible. They are overwhelmed and often feel their efforts are in vain. Many sleepless nights are spent trying to figure out how to make this work.
The people of Houston County need to unite and focus on helping our homeless, four-legged friends. We have created this gigantic problem, and we all need to try to solve it. Our goal should be for Houston County to never have to euthanize an animal because there is no place to house them. We need to stop looking the other way. These creatures are defenseless without our help. They feel love, and they feel pain, and they hurt just as we do when they are done wrong. We all need to search deep within our hearts and help them have a life worth living.
Many people don't want or need the added financial responsibility of caring for an animal. When you are a foster parent, HSOHC pays for the feeding for your foster pet as well as any vet bills. Your responsibility is to make sure the pet is safe and his life is filled with love. By becoming a foster parent, you can experience all the joy and love and happiness that these animals will bring into your life without the financial burden of actually owning them. If that's not a deal, I don't know what is. Every time you look into the eyes of a foster pet, you will be overwhelmed by the gratitude and love that will completely fill your heart.
Foster homes are one of the top priorities of the HSOHC. Without them, HSOHC is limited as to what they can do. I have rescued many animals in my life, and they have more than returned the favor. I am a more compassionate person because of all the animals that have been in my life. I am a much happier person because of them. They have so much to teach us. Foster one of these miracles that God has given us, and you will understand what I mean.
Of course, donations are also desperately needed. Instead of getting that second cup of coffee or eating out for the third time this week, think about the dog or cat that is suffering in the cold or heat that hasn't eaten in four days that is roaming lost and confused down the street wondering what happened to his life. You can donate directly to them or stop by Endless Love Pet Palace and drop it in our donation container located in our front office. IF WE ALL DO A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN DO A LOT. So, dig deep down into your heart and your pockets and help people know the pure joy of traveling life's journey with a four-legged friend at their side making the journey even better.
